In 2023/24 Eric’s committments include, among others,  his debuts as PRINCE GO-GO in Ligeti’s “Le Grand Macabre” at Oper Frankfurt  and as PRINCE ORLOFSKY in J. Strauß' "The Bat" at the Bavarian State Opera, under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski , as well as  

3rd COUNTERTENOR/MALE CHORUS in John Adam’s “El Niño” and MAN UNDER ARCH & HOTEL CLERC in Kevin Put’s highly praised production of “The Hours" at THE MET where he made his debut  2022/23 overtaking the part of GUILDENSTERIN in Dean's <Hamlet> on a very short call, 

 

After Eric's highly acclaimed debut als NATASHA in Peter Eötvö’s' "Tri Sestri"  at the Wiener Staatsoper, where Eric also created the part of GUARDIAN ANGEL in Olga Neuwirth’s WORLD-PREMIERE "Orlando" , operaappearences brought as ANDRONICO in Vivaldi's "Bajazet"  (2 x nominated at the Oliver Awards  & Awa <Outstanding Achievement in Opera-Award> ) to the Irish National Opera and the Royal Opera House Convent Garden London, where he made his debut as NARCISO in Händel's "Agrippina" alongside  Joyce di Donato.

Furthermore, he made his debut at Semperoper Dresden as LA SPERANZA in Monteverdis “L’Orfeo” alongside Rolando Villazon; created the part of MAN (NURSE) in Donnacha Dennehy's and Enda Walsh’s WORLDPREMIERE "The First Child" at the Dublin Theatre Festival and the Galway International Arts Festival; embodied NARCISO in Händels “Agrippina” at the Münchner Opernfestspiele  and the Komische Oper Berlin, where he also appeared in the title-role of Richard Ayre's PETER PAN, as HERALD in Aribert Reimanns "Medea" and in the Händel-roles of  ATHAMAS in "Semele"  and ALEXANDER the GRGREAT  in "Poros, Re d'India".

He created the part of FIDI in Avenr Dormans WORLDPRMIERE “Wahnfried” at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe during the International Händel-Festival  (nominated as <Best World Premiere> at the <International Opera Awards 2018>);

Appeared as  NATASHA in Eötvö’s “Tri Sestry” and ARSAMENE in Händel’s “Xerxes” at Oper Frankfurt, in the title-role pf Händel’s OREST at the Theater an der Wien in the Kammermoer;als KÖNIG TIRIDATES in Kaisers “Octavia” at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, as MICHELANGELO in Suzanne Farrin’s Mono-Opera "La Dolce Morte with the International Contemporary Ensemble at the METLive Arts  (on  CD); as ARBACE  and FULVIO  in Vivaldi’s "Catone in Utica"  at the Glimmerglass Festival and the Opera Lafayette, where he also embodied REFUGEE in Dove’s „Flight“ ; as DON ETTORE in Haydn’s "La Canterina" and Händel’s SERSE with CCM Opera; and the Händel-parts of TOLOMEO in  "Giulio Cesare"  at Wolf Trap Opera  and of  NIRENO with Michigan Opera Theater, as well as VOICE of FARINELLI in Van Kampens Play "Farinelli & the King" with  Oscar-Winner Mark Rylance as King  at the Belasco Theater on Broadway. 

 

Furthermore, he overtook in only 24 hours the never before sang part of DEMETRIO in Händel’s "Berenice"  at the Händel-Festival  Halle;  sang in concert tha Händel-parts of RADAMISTO with Juilliard Vocal Arts, of ATHALIA with Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra and of  POLINESSO in "Ariodante"  with the American Bach Soloists;  and covered FARNACE  in Mozart’s "Mitridate, Re di Ponto" at the ROH, the title-role in Morrison’s WORLDPREMIERE THEODORE at Opera Philadelphia and FRANCISCO in Thomas Adés' "The Exterminating Angel"  at the Salzburg Festival.

In addition, he sang together with Lautenist Jan Čižmář  the Duo-Recital "Time stands still"   at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik (also on ServusTV at <KulTour mit Ioan Holender) and his  Solo- Recital “British Heroes" in the series “Hommage aux Castrats”   at the Château de Versailles Spéctacles, where he also could been heard with the Ensemble Matheus under Jean-Christophe Spinosi   in the title-role of Händel’s RINALDO an die Opéra Royal de Versailles; a part, he never sang before and learned in only 3 days, and which she also interpreted at the Chapelle de la Trinité in Lyon, der Tchaikovsky Concert Hall  in Moscow and the Theater an der Wien .

Besides, he snag works by, among others, Bach, Händel, Vivaldi, Britten, Purcell and John Adams with Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra,  Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Colorado Bach Ensemble, the Belcanto Chorus of Milwaukee, the CCM Ensemble, the Juilliard 415 and the Burlington Choral Society; and als "Artist in Residence"  at the Baldwin Wallace Bach Festival.

And at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts , Eric gave the highly acclaimed recitals "All Ligeti Program"   and Reza Valis "Folksongs No. 14". withEnsemble AXIOM and the New Juilliard Ensemble.

 

Due to the Covid-pandemic and the shut-dwon of theatres, Eric’s debuts as HAMOR in Händels "Jephta"  at the Komischen Oper Berlin,  his theatre-debut at Opéra Garnier in a new opera by Olga Neuwirth,  the revivals of Eötvö’s “Tri Setri” at the Wiener Staatsoper; the live-recording of his Solo-Recitals "British Heroes"  with L'Orchestre de Château de Versailles at the Château de Versailles Spéctacles, and his theatre-debuts at Staatsoper Hamburg  and the  Nederlandse Opera & Ballet Amsterdam  had tob e cancelled.

 

Eric Jurenas had the pleasure to work with suchs renowned renommierten Stage-Directors and Conductors like Peter Eötvös, Keith Warner, Barrie Kosky, Ivor Bolton, Vladimir Jurowski, Konrad Junghänel. Maxim Emelyanchev, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Dennis Russell Davies, Harry Kupfer, Matthias Pintscher, Jörg Halubek, Rubén Dubrovsky, Anthony Bramall, Steven Sloane, Justin Brown, Françoise De Carpentries,  Tazewll Thompson, Benedict Andrews, Nicholas Kraemer, Ryan Brown, Dorothea Kirschbaum, Polly Graham and  Yuval Sharon.

 

An avid competotor, Eric Jurenas recieved numerous arads at national and international comeptitions; among others the 1st AWARD  at the Concorso Internazionale di Canto Renata Tebaldi per Barocco, at Händel Aria Competition, the Hal Leonard Online Vocal Competition,  the Dayton Opera Guild Competition, the Kentucky Bach Choir Competition and the  Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee Competition;

 2nd AWARD at the  Le Concours Corneille – Concours International de Musique Baroque and a 3rd AWARD  at the  Internationalen Antonio Cesti Competition for  Barockopera at theInnsbrucker Fetwochen der Alten Musik. Furthermore, the„Prestigious Award“  by the Sullivan Foundation, the „Dioraphte Prize for the best interpretation of a composition by Willem Jeths“  at the IVC - International Voice Competition ’s-Hertogenbosch (Netherlands), and he was the only Countertenor in the FINALS of the 1st . Meistersinger von Nürnberg Competition  at Opera Nürnberg.

In addition, Eric is a proud recipient of the NOVIC CAREER ADVANCEMENT GRAND  und des JEFFREY THOMAS AWARD.

 

Eric Jurenas obtainied his Bachelor's-Degree at the College-Conservatory of Music der University of Cincinnati,  and his Master’s-Degree at the Juilliard School New York City,  and had the huge honor, as one of the 2 Best in his yearto sing the  prestigeous "Juilliard Vocal Arts Honors Recital".

His teachers were Robert White Jr., William McGraw und George Gibson, and in Master-classes, he worked with, among others,  Gerald Finley / Voice and Maestro Alessandro de Marchi / ancient Music Style.
